Duplicate emails or parents who have already bought still receiving emails | Marketing

Is there a way to filter out duplicate emails on the backend so that people don't get multiple emails? Also, once a parent has bought, we have it set up that they shouldn't still receive it, but they are definitely still receiving all the emails after that. Can anyone help on this?
