·8 months agoReally Big Picture Question:
Looking across the entire Captura ecosystem right now—what areas do you see the most significant evolution or biggest changes heading into the fall season?
Integrations? Marketing? Post shoot workflow? etc....
Eric Leszkowicz
·8 months agoIn the bigger picture, how do you see Captura evolving in the world of volume sports photography over the next few years—especially as more photographers lean on Photoshop plugins (like Pixnum) to handle memory mates and finished layouts?
Do you think addressing the needs of the sports market will be a priority going forward?
Eric Leszkowicz
·8 months agoI should add context. My volume business is about 35% sport photography but I would say about 75% of my workflow time for staff.

·8 months agoFinished layouts vs. build-your-own in Captura
At SPAC this year, there was a lot of conversation around a growing shift toward selling finished layouts, not just PNG cutouts or background-select workflows. The idea being that, as photographers, we often have the strongest vision for what ultimately looks best—and that removing some choices can actually improve both the experience and the final product.
Right now, in our Captura workflow, we’ve trained customers to:
select backgrounds
drop images into templates
or work with provided layouts and PNGs
That system works well, but I’m curious about expanding beyond that.
Has anyone explored ways to offer fully finished, artist-driven images inside Captura—not just a PNG element, but a completed composite or designed image where the creative decisions are already made?
For example:
tagging images as individual, group, or composite
offering a composite where the athlete appears more than once, blended and designed intentionally
allowing customers to purchase a finished image alongside more traditional build-your-own options
I see potential for a hybrid approach:
standard PNGs + layouts for flexibility
plus premium, fully designed images that showcase higher creative value and reduce decision fatigue for buyers
For those who’ve tried anything like this (or considered it):
How are you handling this in Captura?
Are there workflow or sales challenges you’ve run into?
Have you seen higher conversion or perceived value with finished designs?
Curious to hear thoughts, successes, or even reasons not to go this direction.

·8 months agoThis is a great point Jason.
Ideally a workflow where the photographer can capture fewer images and provide the customer with more options, exponentially creating more sales.
For example; capture 4 different poses. In Pixnub turn those 4 poses into many different finished images by changing things like backgrounds, zoom level (full body/close up), and creating finished items like memory mates, trader cards etc.
I still love the option for the last level of data that has problematic spelling (names, teams) to be rendered on top of the designs.
Does anyone currently have a workflow where one can increase the number of images in the gallery? For example, just duplicating the image into a full body, close crop would be a huge increase in sales and save photographers time while shooting. As far as I know the limitation is that the photos are organized and tracked by the image file name, so adding additional images, ie, image.jpg, image2.jpg, image3.jpg would result in having to hand sort all the subjects into their galleries.

·8 months agoWe came up with a pretty easy solution for increasing images in a gallery for our high school shoots. We take a full body shot and crop it in Workflow as the head shot that is needed for the school file, yearbook etc. We then export the images (with Subject ID data) appending their last name (or any other data field) onto the image name. We run those exported images through Pixnub to crop at 3/4, and finally import those cropped images right back into Workflow where they are matched by their Subject ID.
Eric Leszkowicz
·8 months agoWe do the same and run multiple Pixnub products off 3-4 images.
Kelly Bergman
·7 months agoAwesome Stacey! I was trying to figure out how to do this. I'll give it a try!

Admin8 months agoHey Kelly,
Captura is actively developing the ability to generate multiple crops from a single image. This enhancement is expected to save studios valuable time by eliminating the need for workarounds, while also creating more opportunities for upselling.
Eric Leszkowicz
·8 months agoWe do offer finished layouts for our sports and music programs, with little to no background selection options available to customers. These are essentially pre-designed composites or memory mates where the creative decisions (placement, blending, etc.) are already handled by us.
Our current workflow:
Import and sort images into Captura
Export CSV and import it into our AI system to generate the Pixnub spreadsheet
Run Pixnub (with file suffixes added for proper output naming)
Occasionally hit "scratch disk full" errors → restart Pixnub
Reload the results back into Captura
There isn't (to my knowledge) a native way in Captura to fully lock down memory mates the way some competitors do. One workaround we've used is flagging them all with a consistent label (e.g., "yearbook1" or "MM") that can then be restricted/limited in My Designs.
For customers, we let them choose an 8x10 as either an individual portrait or a memory mate version.
My Suggestion for Feature: Add a memory mate limiter directly to the price list. So if you got photos and some someone orders a MM on a button it would block it.

Admin8 months agoWe’re exploring a new feature that would allow you to tag an image and link it to a specific product, ensuring that only that tagged image can be purchased with that product.
This will work well for memory mates and other products like to buddy photos.
We will have to get this one out there to be upvoted on by the community!

·8 months agoMorning Hailee - where is this "upvoted" space in the Community? They talked about it in the webinar but I have not seen where that is - its a great idea
