Is there a way to add the image drop shadow to the background selected for green screen jobs?

Hi! I am going through and updating all of our products with the new Designer tools. I noticed that the drop shadows on the image nodes are not translating well on knocked out images with customer selected backgrounds. In Designer it looks like the drop shadow appears around the entire image (subject knock out & background) and it looks really nice with the product design. But when I test the product (add to price sheets, fulfill as digital download, and order as a customer would), the drop shadow only appears around the subject knockout and not the selected background. I also cannot always see the saved crop in the new print preview feature in Designer; which greatly affects my ability to test and place image nodes accurately based on how the final images would print at lab.
Has any one found a solution to this or also ran into this issue? I love and appreciate all the updates to designer but some of the new features are throwing me off.
