Specific Backgrounds for Each Job - but with one price list?
Summary: Kelly Bergman inquired about managing different backgrounds for hockey league photos while using a single price list. Dana Chappell (Captura) suggested duplicating the price list for each job and tailoring the background options. Stacey Klausner added that hiding unwanted backgrounds in copies of the price list can simplify management. Kelly Bergman appreciated learning about the hiding feature. Shelby Rintel shared a similar experience with school backgrounds, noting the challenge of updating multiple price lists.
Is it somehow possible to have specific backgrounds for each job, but with only one price list?
For example, I photograph multiple hockey leagues, in a variety of different towns/arenas. For the off ice shoots, I extract the player and give the parents the option to choose their backgrounds. Last year I used 1 price list for hockey, and the parents had the option to choose from 10 different arenas. I would prefer if they only had 2 of their actual arena, and two fake generic backgrounds.
I could render out the jpgs but it seems like more work and isn't as flexible. Or I could create a separate price list for each team and direct it to a specific background set.
What is the best solution for this?

·2 months agoJust wanted to give my two cents that I wish we could have some sort of a sub-price list for this very situation. With sports this seems to be a common need because more and more leagues are asking for their specific field, gym, or rink in the background options.

·3 months agoWe currently are having the same issue and going to join this thred in case there is some solution that comes about. We offer almost every school their school building as a background option. With over 100 schools this has become daunting. We do create a master and then duplicate it which makes it a bit easier but if theres some sort of update we need to go update every price sheet!

·4 months agoHello Kelly,
Great question. You cannot have different backgrounds and 1 pricesheet. You can however duplicate the pricesheet> update the backgrounds> then add it to the job so it is just selecting the set of backgrounds needed for that job.

OP4 months agoThanks Dana. I don't know . . . if I want to change something on my price sheet I'll need to change it across 15 different price sheets.
I'm contemplating saving all the options as jpgs. But if I have 250 kids with 4 backgrounds that is 1000 photos in a gallery, which is also more work.
Feature request!

·3 months agoThis is essentially how we handle this situation. We have all of the backgrounds in the "original" pricelist, and then hide the backgrounds not wanted in each of the copies. We then make updates to the original pricelist, and make new copies for each job as needed. It does mean creating/recreating a lot of pricelist copies, but hiding unwanted backgrounds in the copies is the easiest adjustment to make (with the least possible downside if a mistake is made vs adding a product incorrectly or some other mistaken adjustment.)

I didn't know about hiding the backgrounds within each pricelist! That makes things a lot easier if I'm managing a lot of price lists. Thanks for the tip!
